He lost his battle with cancer on Wednesday, Dec., 28th at 9:00 PM, at home with his family by his side. He joined our camp in October. I have had the pleasure of knowing Rick for over 4 years. He was very proud of his Confederate Heritage, he was a re-enactor for eight years. His family needs our thoughts and prayers. His service will be held on Saturday, December 31st. The viewing will be from 9:00 to 11:00 AM. The service will be at 11:00 AM, after will be the grave side service. He gave a perspective on history that could only be given by someone who KNEW someone who was there! HE DID! His display was great. Lots of pictures and historical insights!<br /><br />We have 4 new members since "Skippy" has taken over as Camp Commander.<br /><br />New Members are Sid McCarthy, Rick Deitze, Proffula Singh and One pending, Charles Howell!<br /><br />Our meetings are now being held the second Tuesday of each month with Decembers being on the 13th at the community center next to the Head Quarters building. After 8 years as commander brother Reggie declared he thought it was time for a change. He thanked Everyone for their Support and pledged to stay active and Support the camp to the best of his abilities. This created a Vacancy for Camp Commander So with full blessing of all present at the called regular meeting Keith (Skippy)Cornealious was appointed as Camp Commander and sworn in by Harry Hurst of the Leesburg camp who was in attendance. <p>member Charles Kadel was Chosen to represent the Oxford camp at the upcoming meeting of the SCV and will travel with Leesburg representative harry Hurst.<br /><p><br />We Worked on the new Building that our Camp will be meeting in starting next month. A Special Thanks to "Cut" and his Brother for the use of the Building..<br /><br />The 23rd of April will See the UDC and the Oxford camp come together at Pine level cemetery in Oxford located one block behind Oxford Assembly of God, for Confederate graveside memorial Services as the Sons and Daughters of Confederate veterans come together to Honour their confederate heritage and Ancestors. Along with the grave side services , will be a full colour guard along with rifle Salute!
