Sad News I'm sorry to inform you, the members of the camp, we have lost one of our own, Rick Deitz. He lost his battle with cancer on Wednesday, Dec., 28th at 9:00 PM, at home with his family by his side. He joined our camp in October. I have had the pleasure of knowing Rick for over 4 years. He was very proud of his Confederate Heritage, he was a re-enactor for eight years. His family needs our thoughts and prayers. His service will be held on Saturday, December 31st. The viewing will be from 9:00 to 11:00 AM. The service will be at 11:00 AM, after will be the grave side service. Please come in uniform if you can, also the flag on his casket will be donated by our camp. If you have any questions please feel free to call me. Funeral services For Rick Deitze Saturday In Lady lake at Byers Funeral home on 441 on Saturday December 31st. THINGS ARE HAPPENING!

Well the new Oxford Camp building is moving along slowly but surely, Its a Beautiful Forest green and his the SCV recruiting Logo as a sign right on the front over the door! We Had our First meeting in the Building this last month and everything went well. Food was served and awards /commendations were given! We had as Guests Camp Commander Moorhead from the Ocala Camp as well a some others from his camp that I shamefully forgot the names of.. Sorry... Also the First national Flag Still flies over the Oxford ball park! UPDATE DECEMBER 5th 2005 NOW the third National Flies!

Also there has been a porch added to the front of the building! Thank you TED and REGGIE!

Also We will be having as a special guest this coming July Nelson Winbush! More will be posted about this tomorrow!

UPDATES FOR DECEMBER 5th 2005

The Building us looking real nice and the sign is up. Chuck Kadel has done a great job in dressing up the place and Camp Commander "Skippy" has done a fine job in keeping things together. Chuck has put together some great information on tables in the main lobby and "Skippy" and a few of the others have started a camp Library!

We had Nelson Winbush at the camp a few months ago and had a real nice turn out. He gave a perspective on history that could only be given by someone who KNEW someone who was there! HE DID! His display was great. Lots of pictures and historical insights!

We have 4 new members since "Skippy" has taken over as Camp Commander.

New Members are Sid McCarthy, Rick Deitze, Proffula Singh and One pending, Charles Howell!

Our meetings are now being held the second Tuesday of each month with Decembers being on the 13th at the community center next to the Head Quarters building. Call 352-687-0959 for directions. The meeting will be a covered dish dinner so bring something southern to enjoy!

Also at the meeting there will be a small order of business to vote in an adjuvant for the camp.

( Brother Aubry Caruthers has been the adjuvant for the last 4 years or so and now he wants to do some traveling and some relaxing!)

Nominations will be taken!

Camp Commander Skippy!

At our last meeting in Oxford, camp Commander Reggie Carouthers Stepped down as camp commander. After 8 years as commander brother Reggie declared he thought it was time for a change. He thanked Everyone for their Support and pledged to stay active and Support the camp to the best of his abilities. This created a Vacancy for Camp Commander So with full blessing of all present at the called regular meeting Keith (Skippy)Cornealious was appointed as Camp Commander and sworn in by Harry Hurst of the Leesburg camp who was in attendance.

member Charles Kadel was Chosen to represent the Oxford camp at the upcoming meeting of the SCV and will travel with Leesburg representative harry Hurst.

We Worked on the new Building that our Camp will be meeting in starting next month. I will post the address later, ( location is one block south of 466 make a left. green building next to the Church.) A Special Thanks to "Cut" and his Brother for the use of the Building..

The 23rd of April will See the UDC and the Oxford camp come together at Pine level cemetery in Oxford located one block behind Oxford Assembly of God, for Confederate graveside memorial Services as the Sons and Daughters of Confederate veterans come together to Honour their confederate heritage and Ancestors. Along with the grave side services , will be a full colour guard along with rifle Salute! Several members of the 2nd South Carolina company A. will be in attendance in full period attire for the event. Please come and be a blessing as well as receive one.
